Gabor Csepregi President and Regent of Studies, Professor, Dominican College
Since 1985, Gabor Csepregi has lectured at the Dominican University College in Ottawa. He was Vice-president from 1996 till 2004 and Chair of the Department of Philosophy from 1987 to 1999. In 2001 he became a professor in philosophical anthropology and philosophy of art. He is now the President and Regent of Studies, attaining this post in 2004. and recently has been appointed auxiliary professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of Laval University in Quebec City.
A polyglot author, Gabor Csepregi has published scholarly articles on musical aesthetics, essays on Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály, as well as interviews with world renown musicians such as György Sándor and János Starker. Presently he is preparing an English translation of the biography of the Hungarian composer Ernst von Dohnányi.
His latest book, The Clever Body, was published by The University of Calgary Press in 2006. Gábor Csepregi is the former Editor of the scholarly journal Science et Esprit. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Laval théologique et philosophique.
In 1976 he received a Master’s degree in theology from Laval University and followed this, in 1986, with a Doctorate in philosophy.
Before starting his academic career, he was employed as the coach of the Quebec Water Polo Team (1976-1977) and then of the Canadian Water Polo Team (1978–1985). He also participated, as coach, in the 1984 Olympic Games and, as player, in the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games. At the Montreal Olympic Games, in 1976, he was the captain of the National Team.
