Public Events to mark World Refugee Day 2008
OTTAWA, 19 June 2008 – Under the theme of “Protecting Refugees: Rebuilding Lives in Safety and Dignity”, UNHCR, Citizenship and Immigration Canada and local aid organizations will come together to commemorate World Refugee Day on June 20, 2008.
World Refugee Day is celebrated around the world and is an occasion to extend encouragement, support and respect to refugees.
In Canada, events are organized in several cities including Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal.
