The monument is on National Capital Commission (NCC) land, and the NCC has agreed to look after it in perpetuity. The area is to be decorated with wooden carvings called “Kopjafa” and landscaped in the spring and summer of 2007 for the enjoyment of all visitors. A number of individuals were particularly helpful in the realization of this project including then Hungarian Ambassador Denes Tomaj, Chairman of the NCC, M Marcel Beaudry, MP’s Mauril Bélanger and Tom Wappell. The Hungarian government made a significant donation towards the costs and the Canada-Hungary Educational Foundation assisted in administering the donations. His Excellency, László Sólyom, President of Hungary, laid a wreath at the monument during his state visit to Canada, April 25-29th 2007.
