An exhibition entitled “Re: in Situ. Exhibition of Contemporary Hungarian Canadian Artists” is to open on July 2nd 2009 in Szentendre near Budapest, Hungary. Organized by Canadian Hungarian Artists Collective (CHAC – see www.chaccanada.org ), this major event will present the work of some 40 Canadian artists of Hungarian origin in a variety of media. The exhibition will be opened by H.E. Pierre Guimond, ambassador of Canada and will remain in the Muveszetmalom gallery until August 23rd. It then moves to the Helikon Castle museum in Keszthely where the exhibit will be on display from September 5th to November 15th.
Following these two exhibitions in Hungary, the exhibit will return to Canada and travel to a number of locations. It has been a great deal of work to put an exhibition of this size and complexity together and we wish the artists and coordinators a very successful and enriching experience. We hope to report on the exhibitions and ancillary events later in the summer.

The exhibition of the Canadian Hungarian Artists Cooperative (CHAC) in Hungary is a resounding success. The first part of the exhibition, which took place in the arts-oriented city of Szentendre North of Budapest, just closed on August 23rd and the works displayed will now move on to Keszthely west of Lake Balaton. The Keszthely exhibit will be opened on Saturday September 5th by Dr Laszlo Czoma, Director of the Helikon Castle Museum. Patrons of the exhibition are H.E. Pierre Guimond, Ambassador of Canada to Hungary and Mr Ferenc Csak, State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Education.
