A reception was held on Parliament Hill on Thursday March 5th to mark the 60th anniversary of NATO and the tenth of Hungary’s accession to the organization together with Poland and the Czech Republic. Five years ago 7 of the other Central European countries also joined the alliance as will two more: Albania and Croatia. The ambassadors of all these countries celebrated the anniversaries with Canadian NATO officials as well as MPs, Senators and other guests.
The Hon Peter Van Loan represented the Government at the event and the ambassadors of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland had an article published in the Globe and Mail of March 6th about the significance of this event.
