VANCOUVER – The Hungarian Canadian Cultural Alliance and the New Hungarian Voice present the Dűvő Ensemble from Hungary.

The Hungarian Canadian Cultural Alliance and the New Hungarian Voice are proud to present the Dűvő Ensemble from Hungary in concert at the Granville Island Stage, at 1585 Johnston Street on Wednesday, September 26th at 8:00 p.m.

Dűvő is one of Hungary’s most dynamic folk music groups. These five musical virtuosos have fast become a favourite of Canadians because of their charisma, talent, and vibrant energy as performing musicians. Dedicating their lives to mastering and preserving authentic folk music, Dűvő’s rich and colourful repertoire will be sure to surprise and captivate audience members.

Performing traditional Hungarian folk music since 1981, Dűvő incorporates both traditional and rare instruments into their repertoire, including violin, contra-bass, viola, cymbals, double-bass, hurdy-gurdy, shepherd’s flute, and bagpipe. The Ensemble has produced more than 10 albums and performs music from over 20 different regions of the Carpathian Basin, including Hungarian, Transylvanian and Gypsy sounds. Dűvő has performed all over Europe and in Australia, Israel, Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
